images via JON TANNEN

(New York, NY – February 17th, 2012)- iFashion Network, yet again, launched a set of talented and innovative emerging designers this February during New York iFashion Week, at iFashion Network’s emerging designer showcase. Lebanese born designer Ghassan Yazbeck drew in a fairly large crowd of standing room only international press, models, domestic editors, photographers, VIP’s and fans. The designer left the crowd fascinated by his unique collection.

The show was off to a breathtaking start as Ghassan’s clothing was being showcased down the runway. Although a timid approach was made with colors on this collection, classics can do no wrong, and did no wrong. The solid reds, whites, and blacks that took over the catwalk were anything but deceiving. As each model walked down the runway, the detailed cuts on the garments were heavily emphasized and symbolic. “Yazbeck did throw wows into the delightful eyes of audience staring at his fabrics and models who brothe life into his pencils,” expressed blogger Diamond Bradley.

One of the most striking tops seen on the runway was the black bustier with gold metal closures in gazar, paired with a black tuxedo paneled skirt in wool and satin. Other enthralling ensembles that walked down the runway were the sheer black and white stripped jacket, first seen in plastic and then in silk double organza, both tied with a bow and complemented with Yazbeck’s recurring stiff collar.

The most fascinating thing about the entire show was that the collection was dominated by a series of boxy collared jackets and dresses, but concluded with a delightfully simple wedding gown. The delicacy of the wedding gown even stunned everyone to get up and take a second look when walked down the runway.

The garments overall were structured yet elegant. His scantly cuts and details evidently leave women who put on his clothing feeling sexy and sophisticated, symbolizing Yazbeck’s own cultivated personality.

Fashion icons, members of the press, agents, models, fashion lovers, and professionals of the fashion industry were all present at the event. A VIP standing section was set up in front of the runway for photographers and press. The front row was occupied by fashion icons, designers, buyers, and bloggers. As a hair and makeup sponsorship, Platinum Salon and Jenna Kyle partnered with iFashionNetwork to help produce the show.

“One cannot stop their eyes from seeing beauty, for beauty commends the eye,” expresses Yazbeck. “I am excited about my first official contribution to the fashion world.” As a graduate from McGill University with a chemical engineering degree, he later changed direction to the pharmaceutical industry. Yazbeck, however, openly expresses that his interest in science was directed by the hands of his parents more than his own. He then enrolled in Parsons, leaving behind his former and comfortable life. He graduated with a degree in fashion design and is now on his way to fulfilling his lifelong dream of creating a lifestyle brand.

Rae: What inspired the band name Thirsty?

Thirsty (Chris): Actually a funny story, both Tom and I are into alcohol and wine so we were throwing around this idea for Thirsty and then these two guys, neither of them are drinkers at all. Both are straight edge, both are vegan. We were throwing around ideas and these guys came in with a whole other understanding of it thinking about how they were thirsty for life and thirsty for really trying to fulfill your dreams and express your self. So that’s what we kind of all decided on and from there on we’ve been Thirsty.

Rae: What is your main genre

Thirsty: Rock and Roll hardcore, that family.

Rae: What is your favorite track right now?

Thirsty: It Gets Better. We just recorded an EP called Everything We Learned a few weeks ago at Backroom Studios in Rockaway, New Jersey.

Rae: How did all of you guys meet each other?

Thirsty (Vinnie): Me, Chris and Tom have a mutual friend, Frank, that I went to college with and him and I became really close. He introduced me to the three of them because they knew each other since high school. We played in the band together and then at some point Frank went to do his own thing. The three of us still wanted to play music and we needed a singer. We met Brian at a show that Frank threw him self at another time. When we started this band we liked Brains voice and after trying a few people out, he seemed to be the best fit. He’s a good dude so that happened about two or three years ago and we’ve been doing it ever since.

Rae: What are some projects that you guys have been working on right now?

Thirsty: We have a new track which has been released December 17th and it’s on our website www.thirstybk.com a free download. Right now were working on a brand new track that were hoping to get online within the next few weeks aside from that release.

Rae: How significant do you feel performing is

Thirsty (Chris): I think it’s everything because the kind of music that we play lives on the live show. It’s predicated to a lot of crown participation. We know all of the lyrics to our favorite bands when we go see them, we rush up to the front of the stage and we sing along. It just means so much even though we have a small hand full of friends that listen to our songs and know the lyrics and when your able to see them just enjoying them selves and singing along when you play, that’s what makes it worth it. For me at least, I love when were recording and when we practice but the live show is what it’s all about.

Rae: How important is crowd reaction?

Thirsty: It’s important but I also find that music has become more personalized, as I have gotten older. I’m starting to get to the point where I don’t really care if there is many people there, we just need to play. Just need to do it, need to experience it – but we always love crowd participation (laughs) always a positive.

Rae: Take us through your creative process.

Thirsty (Tom): Well it differs between each song. Chris and I have been friends since High School, we live together, so I’ll come up with a riff or he’ll come up with a riff together at the apartment and then we come to practice with these guys and they’ll completely change it around and that’s virtually most of the writing process. Then there’s also times when Brian and Vinnie bring something to the table and Chris and me will switch it around. So there’s almost like two different sides of the dark force.

Rae: Is there anything else that you guys would like to mention?

Thirsty: We all love each other like brothers and honestly it’s very important to us and to the process, I think that really reflects through the music. Really were just trying to have fun and this is something that we’ve been doing since we were kids. We’ve linked up a couple of years ago (since 2009) and we’re having a blast. But me (Tom), Chris and Vinnie have been playing together since 2004 and we’ve been doing music before that and I’m sure Brian has been playing since he was a kid as well.

Cody B Ware

Rae: What inspired your band name?

Cody B Ware: The band name actually came to me. I was out in Cali and a friend of mine yelled the name at me. It’s one of those moments in life when the universe just stops and its like “Oh sh*t, that’s it!” I was going through names and some of them were f*ckin ridiculous, nothing was fitting and nothing was what I wanted to represent me. When he said Cody B Ware, I thought that was me. I love wrestling too and Cody B Ware is an old wrestler. All the stars just aligned at that moment so my name kind of chose me.

Rae: What is your main Genre?

Cody B Ware: I kind of developed my own genre called “Black Metal/ Hip Hop”. It’s hard to describe it in a sound. The sound is Cody B Ware; the attitude is more Black Metal/ Hip-Hop. The foundation is hip-hop but there are aspects of black metal within the attitude, not so much sonically. It gets heavy when the metal comes in.

Rae: What was it that began your attraction to music in the first place?

Cody B Ware: I was born into it and I saw my uncle and my dad use music as an escape or a livelihood. It kind of intrigued me the way that my uncle would move people with his music or the way that I would feel when my dad would sing in the house or play guitar. I was just drawn to it. It felt so natural like breathing to me.

Rae: What are some projects that you guys are working on right now?

Cody B Ware: I just put out an album called “Welcome Home” this past summer so I’m still going off of that. I feel like a lot of people still haven’t heard it and I’m very proud of the project. Aside from Welcome Home I’m working on a new album called “The Soundtrack to Living Hell” that should be out this year. I’m just pushing Welcome Home now I would love for the world to hear it if they still haven’t

Rae: What inspired that album?

Cody B Ware: What inspired the album was kind of taking a personal journey and finding your self as a person. Going through finding my name and just finding my sound that I can call my own. Even as a person, like a human, being it’s finding who you are. The album really accomplishes a lot of emotion and feelings that I wanted to really bring that forward on one record. You know sometimes you will hear a record and its one sided like “I want to party all the time” and all of that sh*t but I wanted to create the record for the human being that cares about life. So that’s what welcome home is. It’s made for kids like me

Rae: Can you take us through your creative process?

Cody B Ware: It varies. Sometimes I’ll write a song in 10 minutes being in the studio. Sometimes it will take me months. It’s just about living, like I used to write everyday and I just started getting so busy with life and then I stopped writing. So I started to have to develop these different tactics of how to write. Sometime I’ll have a subject that I want to talk about and I’ll stash it within my mind or my feelings and I’ll hold on to it just so that I can let it out and sometimes it just goes away. I probably have classic timeless records that have gone away. But I work with producers and I’m all over the place so when ever I’m inspired it comes out.

A look ahead into Gourmet shoes this year displays the brands evolution from their premiere Jordan silhouette shoes with vulcanized soles that launched there career into today. As this year each model clearly has a mind of its own while also bringing back some familiar styles.

via Gourmet

A variation of color, prints, outer soles, and other constituents give Gourmet depth in there collection this year. The Quadici shown above is one of those familiar styles but this pair of duck boots were collaborated by Primitive, a skateboarding boutique founded in encina, Los Angeles. We all can expect many more from gourmet in 2012.

via WWD

Alexander McQueen’s legacy still lives on as the brand prepares for fashion week in the next few weeks. Women’s Wear Daily calls it a “Victorian Gypsy” vibe although it seems to look a little bit more complex than that. This dress does seem to be the most “gypsy” of them all.

via The Fashoni Style

We are able to notice by the tight waist that the styles do seem to mimic the Victorian era as well as the girdle fit added to the dresses but some of the dresses. For instance, the red and black one to the right seems to be a combination of fashion from the 1910′s and 20′s era with a bit of the victorian era combined. This season can’t truly be categorized by a single named era, and even more so it can not really be put into a box!

Tomorrow Nike will be releasing a ground breaking product that has been kept nameless to the public. Late last year they opened with a teaser video about this product that left fans questioning. The video only included and array of Rastafarian colors in a cloud of smoke with their Nike+ logo also attached to the infamous date, 1.19.12. The Nike plus campaign has been a success since its arrival in 2010 collecting information for runners everywhere. It is said that this new product will be made for all playmakers from skateboarding to tennis matches. We are now only hours away from a revolutionary product for athletes everywhere. For more information on this product and more visit www.nikeplus.com.

As Roq Magazine is growing to be a contending online merchant, it seems others are in danger of there domains and advertisements. SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) was introduced in October last year as a mole to crack down on copyright infringement by restricting access to sites that host or facilitate the trading of pirated content. These websites include Wikipedia, Google, all if not most pornographic websites and plenty other domains that law makers decide to investigate. Today most of those websites in questioned have blackened out there websites and lead a protest on this act. They, as well as I believe no bill can stop this piracy act, for it would take years and in return only lead to the demise of the World Wide Web. There a plenty petitions rolling around and blogs you can follow to stay aware of this bill and act on your own to help.
