Alicia Keys celebrates the 10th Anniversary of ‘Songs in a Minor’ and being waxed!

10 years following her 2001 LP debut, ‘Songs in a Minor’, Alicia Keys’ career is on another trail blaze.

The Tuesday re-release of ‘Songs in a Minor’ includes a 2-CD deluxe edition with bonus tracks and a 2-CD/1DVD collector’s edition with videos and a mini-documentary.

But the re-release was only the drop for a bigger splash for the 30-year-old, 14-time Grammy Award-winning songstress, actress, activist, mother to baby Egypt, and wife to music producer Swizz Beatz.

Sunday Keys performed “A Woman’s Worth”, “Typewriter” and “Fallen” with acoustic sensation, Bruno Mars and … oddly, Rick Ross, at the 2011 BET Awards, with 7.7 million views, setting the tone for a week of success to come.

A day before the big Tuesday, Keys tweeted:

“Wow! SO excited abt 2morrow!!! Feels like the first time all over again!!! Whoohoo! SO much love 2 u! Now, going 2 bed b4 I can’t get up! ;-) ” (@aliciakeys)

Well worth the excitement.

On the same day as the re-release on Tuesday, Keys also dropped by at the house of wax to unveil her very own wax figure at Madam Tussauds, after performing earlier that morning on Good Morning America.

And, The Sony Wonder Technology Lab in New York City debuted the ‘Music Mixer’, featuring Keys’ “Empire State of Mind (Part II)”, which allows visitors to create their own spin of the hit song across a wide range of instrument tracks and genres on an interactive table.

Then, there was just enough time for a surprise performance at Joe’s Pub in Greenwich Village.

On Thursday, June 30, Keys will commemorate the 10th Anniversary with a mini-concert, Piano & I: A One Night Only Event With Alicia Keys at the Beacon Theatre, which will also be aired live on AOL music’s new ‘Sessions +1’, a stream for live shows with viewer-interaction ability, which kicks off with Keys’ performance.

What’s next for Ms. Keys?

Broadway

Alicia keys will co-produce the upcoming Broadway play, ‘Stick Fly’ by Lydia R. Diamond, a comedy of an upscale African American family living in Martha’s Vineyard, whose sons bring home their partners (one black, one white) to meet the parents.

Due for success, the play will be staged by Kenny Leon, who also directed ‘Fences’ and ‘A raisin in the Sun’.

‘Stick Fly’ previews on Nov. 18, and opens Dec. 8 at the Lyceum Theatre in New York City.
